When a guy likes you...?

So I have heard that when someone is attracted or likes you, they'll subconsciously change the way they speak to match you. Could that also be true for texting? For instance, this guy (future roommate) when we text his texting style is always similar to mine when I know for a fact he never he never usually texts like that towards other people.
