How do you feel about "everybody is in your life for a reason"?

I personally believe this is true. There is this guy that i have known over the internet for about 4 years. For some reason i have had extremely strong feelings since the moment i met him, i cant describe it very well. I thought his name looked familiar for some reason. I believe he is in my life for a reason. I did some stuff that most normal people would get pissed about and just leave but he didn't and here we are today. He has subconsciously made me the person i am today and ultimately given me the idea of the kind of future i want to have and person i want to be. I feel like i cant tell any of this to him cause i doubt he'd understand. does anybody have any feelings like this? Id love to hear anybodies thoughts? thanks
