I've been on Paxil for a year.. I think it's making me exhausted, help?
Well, I don't normally advise people to lower their dosage of medication without medical supervision under a doctor, but I can understand where you're coming from. I'm on the same medication & have been for 2 years, but last year I went for a regular check up with my doctor & described to him how I was feeling within myself at the time. He raised the dose of Paxil I was taking to 30mg (I was on 20mg) but I lowered it myself. I've been taking 15mg since then instead of what my doctor told me to take. So, just lower your dose to 30mg for a few months & see how things go. 30mg would be a full 20mg tablet & a half of a 20mg tablet. Try that, as I say, for a few months, see how it goes & if at anytime you feel things getting worse again, go back up to the 40mg. That's the way a doctor would take people off medication such as Paxil anyway, by slowly reducing the dose over a period of time to decrease withdrawal effects.
