How much American history should American politicians sensibly know?

They need to know as much as possible. The most important are economic decisions of past presidents and their long term effects. That way when they face similar problems they can respond in the best way possible. Many politicians can learn a great deal from our greatest presidents as well. I mean, If they are representing the United States of America, they should know everything about the United States of America.
